Subscription Renewal Reminders

Privacy policy: Subscription Renewal Reminders

Last updated: 3 October 2026 · Documentation

Subscription Renewal Reminders for the UK DMCC Act ("the plugin") is published by Optexia, France ("we"), optexia.com.

What the plugin processes

To send and prove the notices required by the UK DMCC Act 2024, the plugin reads the site's subscriptions (customer name, e-mail, billing country, plan, prices and dates). It does not store the customer's name: for each notice sent it keeps the notice content, the recipient's e-mail address, the subscription, the date and time, the sending status and a hash.

Where it is stored

Only in the WordPress database of the site where the plugin is installed. Notices are sent through the site's own mail setup. The free plugin sends no data to us or to third parties, and loads nothing from outside the site.

An optional paid add-on, Subscription Renewal Reminders Pro (a separate plugin, adding a CSV export of the evidence log), is sold through Freemius (Freemius, Inc.), which handles its licence and payment and receives the buyer's name, e-mail, site URL and payment details under its own privacy policy. Freemius is only part of the add-on: the free plugin contains no Freemius code and no licence check. Customer data from the site is never sent.

Roles and retention

The site owner is the data controller. The evidence log is the site owner's proof that notices were given (s.272(6)), so uninstalling the plugin removes its settings and cancels the notices still scheduled, but keeps the log and the notice schedule of each subscription, unless the site owner defines DMCC_NOTICES_DELETE_EVIDENCE to delete both. The site owner decides how long to keep them.

WordPress's personal data tools cover the log. Tools › Export Personal Data includes the notices sent to an e-mail address. Tools › Erase Personal Data keeps them and says why: they are the legal proof that the notices were given (s.272(6)), and editing them would break the hash chain. Suggested text for the site's privacy policy is offered in Settings › Privacy.
